Cruise Ships Sinks 100 years After Titanic... Almost to date!

BRITISH holiday-makers have been evacuated from a luxury cruise ship off the coast of Italy after the vessel ran aground, leaving three dead and 70 unaccounted for;passengers were forced into life-boats as the 1,500-cabin Costa Concordia hit a reef a few hundred metres from the Tuscan holiday island of Giglio last night.

According to reports, some of the ship's 4,000 passengers jumped into the sea and swam to shore as the vessel began to take on water.

Italian coastguard spokesman Francesco Paolillo confirmed that three bodies were retrieved from the sea. A loud boom interrupted the passengers' dinner on Friday night before a loud-speaker announcement initially claimed that the ship had suffered an electrical failure.

However, one passenger was certain that the problem was more severe.

"It was just like something out of the Titanic," she said.

"You could tell straight away that the ship had hit something and no way was it an electrical fault."Pictures of the vessel have shown a massive gash in the hull more than 150ft long, with a huge rock embedded in the side of the ship towards the stern.
Fabio Costa, who worked in one of the vessel's, said a number of people were jumping into the sea to swim ashore.

"We could only feel that the boat had hit something, we had no idea how serious it was until we got out and we looked through the window and we saw the water getting closer and closer. Everything happened really, really fast and we saw the water coming in."

"A lot of people were falling down the stairs and were hurt because things fell on them."

"We just saw a huge rock, that was probably where the ship hit, and people were having huge trouble trying to get on the lifeboats. So at that point we didn't know what to do so it took hours for people to get off the ship.

"It was easier for people to jump into the sea because we were on the same level as that water so some people pretty much just decided to swim as they were not able to get on the lifeboats."

The evacuation operation began immediately as the ship began to list to the right, with helicopters and local ferries drafted in to help.

After initially being taken to the small island of Giglio, all survivors have now been transported to Port Santo Stefano on the mainland.

The 1,500-cabin vessel hit a reef a few hundred metres from the Tuscan holiday island

It has been reported that 24 British tourists were onboard the Costa Concordia.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: "We are in close contact with the local authorities and are working urgently to identify British nationals involved.

"A consular team from the British Embassy will shortly be in the area to provide consular assistance."

Elizabeth Nanni, of Giglio's tourist information, told BBC News that rescuers "think they have got everyone".

"There was talk at some point that people were trapped inside but I can't confirm that, I have no idea really," she added.

"Of course it always takes some time to organise a rescue in these cases and it was a big shock to everyone.

"The boat was listing and everyone tried to pull together - this island has about 700 residents here so receiving 4,200 was quite a shock, even for us.

"So we tried to put them in churches and schools and in the tourist office I housed about 100 people in two rooms."

Floyd Going to Jail!!

Floyd Mayweather Jr. got hammered by a judge, who just sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail for beating up his baby mama in front of their kids.

Floyd was sentenced to 6 months in jail, but 3 months of that sentence was suspended.  He also gets 3 days credit for time he has already served.

The boxer was arrested in September 2010 -- after his ex-girlfriend accused him of striking her "multiple times in the head with his fist" and then threatening to kill her.

Floyd struck a plea deal with prosecutors in the case -- in which he pled guilty to misdemeanor domestic violence ... in exchange for getting a pass on the felony battery charge.

Floyd also pled no contest to two misdemeanor harassment charges -- after allegedly threatening to beat his kids too during the incident.

The judge was especially pissed that Mayweather struck his baby mama in front of their kids.

The judge also ordered Mayweather to complete 100 hours of community service and a 12-month domestic violence program.  He was fined $2,500 ... which to Floyd is like a poker hand.

The boxer must turn himself in on January 6, to begin serving his sentence.

is very talented and wanted to win the show, but that was obviously not a geniune reaction. Nicole with the tissue and wipping away tears that was not there Fake snot bubbles Come ON? Anyway I was almost embaraased that this was going on... But congrats to the other guy!

New planet Kepler-22b JUST Like EARTH!

A new planet detected orbiting a star 600 light years away could have continents, oceans and life, it was revealed today.

The planet, Kepler-22b, is about twice the size of Earth and may have a surface temperature of around 22C - similar to a warm spring day in the UK.
It is the first so-called "super-Earth" known to lie within the "habitable" zone of a Sun-like star.
Dubbed the "Goldilocks zone", this is the orbital band where temperatures are just right to allow the existence of surface liquid water.
This means the planet could have continents and oceans just like the Earth. And where there is liquid water, there could also be life.
Scientists believe Kepler-22b may not only be habitable, but possibly even inhabited.
"This discovery supports the growing belief that we live in a universe crowded with life," said Dr Alan Boss, from the Carnegie Institution in Washington DC, who helped identify the planet from data obtained by the Kepler space telescope.

The telescope, launched by the American space agency Nasa, is watching 155,000 stars looking for tiny dimmings in brightness that betray the presence of planets.
Kepler-22b's host star, in the region of the constellations of Lyra and Cygnus, is slightly smaller than the Sun and about 25% less luminous.
The planet orbits the star in 290 days, compared with the Earth's 365, at a distance 15% closer than the Earth is from the Sun.
It lies right in the centre of the star's habitable zone, where potentially perfect conditions exist for life.
Two other small planets orbiting stars smaller and cooler than the Sun have recently been found at the very edges of their habitable zones. Their orbits more closely resemble those of Mars and Venus.
A report on the discovery will be published by the Astrophysical Journal.
Dr Douglas Hudgins, Kepler programme scientist at Nasa headquarters in Washington, said: "This is a major milestone on the road to finding Earth's twin."
The planet was spotted after making a "transit" across the front of its parent star, causing the star's brightness to dip. At least three transits are needed before such a signal can be confirmed as a planet.
ALL I CAN SAY IS IM SURE ALOT OF THEM RICH FOLK IS TRYNA GET OUT THERE AND LIVE..... WE IN BUSINESS 100 MILLION DOLLARS!
